How much does it cost to ship books to Amazon?
Shipping costs will depend on how many books you're sending in because Amazon gets a rate cut when you send in high volumes of books. We pay on average 30c per book. Amazon gets great rates with UPS and books ship media mail which is a lot cheaper than regular mail
How do I get the buy box?
Good sales history, great reviews, and competitive pricing.
Do I need a business license to create an Amazon seller account?
No, you can create your account using your SSN.
What does FBA mean?
FBA stands for Fulfilled By Amazon and means that Amazon will fulfill your order from their Amazon warehouse.
How much does Amazon take in fees?
Amazon has set and variable fees, but overall you should expect to pay 50% of your gross sales in fees. Learn more about their fees here: https://sell.amazon.com/pricing.html
When and how will Amazon pay me?
Amazon pays out every two weeks and we take payment via direct debit into our bank account
I'm signing up for an Amazon seller account and it's asking my store name, do I just make it up?
Yes, it's your store and you can call it what you like. Just remember that it will be visible to the public.
I just signed up for my Amazon seller account. How long before I can start scanning?
It usually takes 72 hours for your account to be approved. You'll only be able to scan on database mode until your account has been approved and you've integrated your seller account with the ScoutIQ system.

How does the scanner work?
The Scanner connects to your phone via bluetooth and sends information about the book to the ScoutIQ app
How does ScoutIQ work?
Once ScoutIQ receives the information about the book, it quickly uses an algorithm to determine whether or not a book is profitable. The algorithm takes into account Amazon fees, shipping fees, buy cost, current market value and sales history
What's the difference between the Live mode and Database + Live ScoutIQ plan?
Live will only work with an internet connection and is slower than database mode
How often can I visit the same thrift shop?
That will depend on where you live and how many donations they get. You will have to learn by trial and error and by asking the staff how often they restock and if it's on any particular day
Who pays sales tax on my Amazon sales
Amazon will collect and pay sales tax on the sales you make in most states. Please learn more about that here and consult with your accountant
What do you do if a book doesn't have an ISBN
Do a title search within ScoutIQ. You can either type in the title or use voice search.
