The Return on Investment Possible Selling Used Books on Amazon Will Blow You Away

You will not believe some of the returns we've made selling used books on Amazon FBA. I've worked for myself for a long time and I've honestly never seen anything like it. We are able to walk into just about any thrift store, pay $1 to $3 for a used book and then flip it for 5 to 100 times the amount we paid for it...It's insane!

Thrift stores aren't the only place we find them either. Cheap used books are everywhere, just waiting to be flipped on Amazon for a premium. I recently wrote an article about where we find our used books, so I won't go over our sources again here.

The reason we can get used books so cheap is because most people don't value books anymore and just want to get rid of them. You would be shocked if you knew how many books were tossed out of thrift stores because they don't have the shelf space to keep up with the amount of book donations they receive.

This presents a great opportunity for you because there's still a huge market for used books and that audience is primarily buying on Amazon.

Here Are Some Examples of the Returns We've Made Reselling Used Books on Amazon

Electronic applications of the smith chart

I was scanning through Facebook marketplace for posts selling used books and came across a post from a man looking to sell his fathers collection. The house was only up the road so I decided to check it out. I found this treasure and flipped it soon after purchasing it! Niche subject books like this do really well.

The Franciscan book of saints

This beauty was found through a consignment deal that we have with a local library. They were having quarterly library sales selling books for next to nothing, so we approached them with an offer to sell some of their books on Amazon for a 50/50 profit split. It's a great strategy to get inventory for free!

Principles of guided missile design

I was at a yard sale when I found this book. The lady I purchased it from only had 20-30 books on display and this was one of them. I bought it for next to nothing and quickly flipped it for a nice profit. I also found a nice set that I flipped for a great profit.

Textiles 12th edition

This textbook was found at a local thrift shop. We paid a little over $1 for the book and flipped it for over $100!

Vogue's new book for better sewing

Thrift stores are a great place to find an abundance of used books. Look out for books on hobbies as they usually resell for a profit.

Setting The Right Expectations

Now, I don't want you to read this article and think that you're going to find deals like this every time you go out to source new inventory. Because you won't.

The bread and butter of this business comes from the books you buy for $1 and sell for $9 to $20. Books like the ones listed above are home runs and although they're rare, you will consistently find them if you are consistently going out to look for books.

Happy hunting!
